Ok, it is late March/Early April. It is time to start the tomato seeds. Most varieties recommend you start your indoor seeds 6-8 weeks prior to the late frost date in your area. For Minnesota in zone 7, the last week in March is our target time. Our plan for 2015 is to specialize in San Marzano tomatoes and buy some already established tomato plants from the local nursery. We first located some packets of seed and have set up our indoor greenhouse. The plan is to start 8-9 plants to place out into the garden.
The San Marzano tomato plants look great (we have almost 40 to plant this year). Looking forward to harvesting the promise of a terrific tomato season! Ella's marigolds are looking good as well in the upper left corner. Be sure to fertilize your plants to keep them growing well, but be sure not to overdo it. A few sprays every couple weeks does the trick. These plants just need to pass the last frost date to find their new home in the ground.
